Unrooted by Cansu Karabıyık is in Istanbul 12th of July Friday 8PM at Art Stage Taksim!
"Unrooted" is a solo comedy show by NYC-based comic Cansu, a second-generation immigrant navigating the complexities of her multicultural identity. With an upbringing rooted in her family’s cultural traditions and an adult life spent moving between continents, she offers a raw and unfiltered look at the joys and challenges of living between worlds.
Through a series of personal anecdotes, sharp observations, and unapologetic humor, Cansu delves into topics like cultural clashes, generational gaps, and the hilarious mishaps of her unrooted lifestyle. Her style is candid and occasionally controversial, as she fearlessly tackles stereotypes, societal norms, and the occasional absurdity of political correctness.
Bio: Cansu is a comedian and writer based in NYC. Her comedy journey started in the UK where she was nominated for the BBC New Comedy Award in 2018. In 2019, she played the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and has been featured in numerous comedy festivals since then both in the UK and in the US, including the New York Comedy Festival in 2023 and the DC Comedy Festival in 2024. She’s the creator and host of Let’s Hookah Podcast.
